Director of Operations (Full-Time)


SARA for Women Society (SARA) has an opening for a full-time Director of Operations.  SARA for Women Society is a community-based feminist organization that assists women through housing, programs, resource referral, and other supports.  The organization also provides services for victims of violence.

Section 1 – General Information

Position Title: Director of Operations

Job location: Mission/Abbotsford

Employment Type: Permanent Full Time

Reports to: Executive Director

Section 2 – Job Summary

The Director of Operations is responsible for overseeing Society budgets, contracts, and property leasehold and asset management.  The Director will support new and existing administrative systems and will oversee 5-10 directly reporting Administrative and Management Team members. Your ability to direct the work of staff is essential in the success of this role.  This position develops and implements systems, policies, procedures and evaluations.

As a respected leader, you will be responsible for providing administration leadership in support of the Executive Director. The Director of Operations is responsible for managing the day to day delivery of a continuum of integrated services of SARA for Women Society. These services include: Two Transition Homes, Three Second Stage Housing sites, the Warm Zone drop-in centre, Offices in Abbotsford and Mission with Outreach, Counselling, Pregnancy Outreach, and PEACE programs and a social enterprise boutique in Mission.

The Director of Operations has the responsibility to plan, develop, manage, coordinate and evaluate the delivery of this broad range of services and is directly accountable for the quality of services and for setting and monitoring standards of practice. You will have an understanding of work planning, project management, best practice, and comprehensive knowledge of Not for Profit organizations.

Section 3 – Qualifications & Requirements:

The successful candidate will possess a Master’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, or Human Resources or a comparable Undergraduate degree with significant professional work experience in a related role.  Knowledge and experience in the Not for Profit sector is an asset.

Proficiency in using a Windows-based computer system and Sage 50 accounting software is required.

Working conditions: Travel with reimbursement for mileage and use of a reliable vehicle with business insurance required.
