February 2025 Newsletter
We believe in the power of sharing our good news stories.
Here are two examples of the impactful work our SARA staff does, highlighting each step forward as a significant leap towards our goals.
People in our community who make a significant impact deserve to be recognized
One such person is Lara Toews, who established an opportunity for support by creating a cookbook featuring her favourite recipes contributed by cherished friends and talented chefs. This cookbook not only showcases delicious dishes but also serves as a fundraiser for SARA for Women.
The Ones I Make Over And Over Again is more than a collection of recipes. Many women in our programs face challenging living situations that limit their access to a proper kitchen, making mealtime a source of stress rather than joy. Not all women and children feel safe around the table; for those living with an abuser, the simple act of sharing a meal can be fraught with tension and fear.
Lara's cookbook, filled with beloved recipes, symbolizes the hope for safety and togetherness that many families are missing. It serves as a reminder that the opportunity to gather around a table is something to be valued and nurtured.
We are so grateful to you, Lara, for considering SARA while creating this cookbook! Your commitment makes a difference in the lives of the women and children we serve.
Current Program and Housing Waitlists
No woman or child should ever be denied a safe place to live, and it’s truly heartbreaking that we can't accommodate everyone in need. However, we are making progress, and with your ongoing donations we intend to secure more housing options.
